Seamless premiered at TIFF Wavelenghts series curated by Erik Martinson in 2017. And in 2018 was presented as a screening at Ashley, Berlin and later at an artist innitiated group exhibition Der Plug at Osloer Str. in Berlin. 

The video narrates a desire to surround oneself with slow matter – metal, ceramic, wood, stone, concrete, glass and plastic – materials who’s rate of change, rate of decay is much slower than that of the human flesh, and which therefore create a feeling of stability and timelessness. The video uses abstracted imagery and sounds of everyday objects from globalised environments and hints to the invisible movement of time (‘Speed of things’ as called by Spinoza) in each each of them.

“I like rocks. I love rocks. They are peaceful.” says a woman who’s apartment filled with rocks is documented on the show ‘Hoarders’. In her book ‘Vibrant Matter’ Jane Bennet notes that “If the volume of the hoard is large enough it could create a kind of cocoon of slow mater–comfort clutter.”.

Seamless reflects on the representation of material desires embedded in images of consumer culture from 2010s, and comments on how despite the illusion of control over time, physical bodies are subject to constant change when their membranes are permeated by other objects. And so all bodies, including man made things and the human body, are interconnected at all times, passing qualities of their own on to the bodies surrounding them and vice versa.
